Fashion Week | New York Fashion Week 2012
Posted: January 4th, 2012
While people the world over associate February with love, for the most stylish of them flocking to New York City Fashion Week, it’s all about love for fashion.
New York City attracts all types all the time for all kinds of reasons including New York Attractions, New York Shopping, New York Restaurants, and, of course, New York Events.
In February 2012, the New York Hotels, streets of New York, NY Restaurants, and more will be crowded with models, A-list celebrities, media moguls, designers, buyers, sellers, and every other minion of the fashion industry.
From February 9 – 16, 2012, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week for Fall 2012 will dominate Manhattan. This season is punctuated with enthusiasm for reaching overseas consumers – particularly the Chinese and Japanese, who are proving to be big buyers of fashion and are increasingly interested in U.S. labels. It’s looking like this New York Fashion Week will be one of the busiest and upbeat in years.
In 2010, New York Fashion Week moved from Bryant Park to Damrosch Park at the Lincoln Center complex for a newer, bigger showcase to house the biannual event.
Attendees will walk a red carpet at the 60-foot-wide, 70-foot-high entrance behind the Metropolitan Opera House and David H. Koch Theater into the lobby of a 969-seat venue. The day’s events are digitally projected on the walls and the catwalks will showcase the most anticipated fashions of the season.
This year, at least as many shows as will be at Lincoln Center will also take place in NY Venues throughout Manhattan. The schedule is so full that some hours there will be three or four collections showing at once. Many are seeing this as a good indication that the economy is coming back because entrepreneurs are competing for space alongside established brands.
There are many NYC Hotels to choose from in New York City including Milford Plaza Hotel – A Times Square Hotel. The Milford Plaza Hotel is located a block from NYC’s Times Square and close to many Manhattan Activities, Manhattan Fashion District, Manhattan Events and NYC Shopping, New York City Restaurants and NYC Landmarks including Lincoln Center.

IMG remains the driving force behind New York Fashion Week along with major sponsors Mercedes Benz and Olympus. As the world’s most celebrated fashion events, more than 100,000 attendees come to check out the glitz and glam at New York Fashion Week twice each year.
Digital technologies and social media are drawing more attention to the global Fashion Weeks that start in New York, then proceed to London, Milan, and finish in Paris. New York Fashion Week was once an invitation-only New York Trade Show where magazine editors and store buyers sought out the next season’s styles. But modern media is changing that trend with live-stream shows and mobile apps that make it possible for consumers to watch runway events from their computers and laptops.
New York Hotels, New York Restaurants, and the Big Apple in general are braced to welcome and impress the fashion world. And, if you aren’t one of the privileged who gets to attend an actual New York Fashion show, you can catch all the action on local channel TV 25, which devotes more than 150 hours of coverage all New York Fashion Week long.
